OSU QB Alan Bowman receives the dumbest penalty ever when everything is on the line

Oklahoma State hosted the Arkansas Razorbacks on Saturday afternoon and it was a close game.

So in a game this close, you can’t afford to take stupid penalties like taunting the opposing sideline by shuffling 20 yards down the field and pretending to shoot at them.

Oklahoma State quarterback Alan Bowman did not receive that memo.

Late in the fourth quarter, Boeman threw a 36-yard pass to Cowboys receiver Brennan Presley that brought OSU to the Arkansas 6-yard line with the score tied 28-28.

This play seemed to mean an almost certain touchdown for the lead, but…

Bowman completely forgot that one should not taunt one’s opponent.

For a guy who’s been playing college football for a while, this is more than a blip. This is a fantasy.

I mean, that’s a clear penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct. He looked like Frank Drebin calling balls and strikes between the Angels and the Mariners. The naked cannon.

Fans had some thoughts on this…

That was a costly penalty because it slowed the Cowboys’ advance and forced them to settle for a field goal. The Razorbacks then marched down the field and tied the game with a field goal of their own with two seconds left, sending the game into overtime.

Arkansas missed a field goal on its first possession of overtime; the Cowboys followed suit, missing one on their first possession.

The Cowboys took the lead in the second overtime with a touchdown after Arkansas’ Xavian Sorey Jr. took a stupid penalty of his own, and then increased the score with the obligatory 2-point conversion to make it 39-31.

Luckily for Bowman, OSU’s defense was able to win the game 4-1, sealing the deal and giving the Cowboys their second win of the season.
