Only Jameis Winston can include “Cici’s Pizza” in a pre-game speech and still give you goosebumps

If you haven’t clicked on the video yet, close your eyes immediately and try to guess what game the Browns are getting ready for. Because when I do this exercise, I assume it’s either a big AFC North game, a home playoff game, or the Super Bowl. But no… it was in Seattle for the last preseason game. And most of our starting linemen are sitting, making it perhaps the most meaningless game of the season. But that doesn’t stop first-ballot Hall of Fame inductee Jameis Winston from digging deep into his pockets and getting the guys ready to play. Am I hearing any of these sentences right?

Remember the time you played the best football game of your life (YEEESSSSS!). Remember the time after that win when you went to Cici’s Pizza and celebrated with the boys (OH YEAH!).

Some will call it cheesy, but I call it making the hairs on your arms stand up. Jameis is out here talking to a bunch of grown men who play the game for the money, and he’s making them remember when they were 12 to 18 years old, playing football for fun, and after the game they’d hang out with their boys and eat as much pizza as they could. And he wants them to relive that feeling and make another unforgettable game… in the preseason, in Seattle, in the middle of the night, with no one watching. Guys, I’m ready to run through a brick wall right now, and my walls are made of wood. What’s he going to do in two weeks when the games really matter? What’s he going to do if we make the playoffs? What’s he going to do if we make the Super Bowl?!

Look, I’m excited for the Browns this year because I believe we have one of the best rosters in football, but that excitement pales in comparison to my anticipation of seeing what those pre-game speeches look like. What does Deshaun think of all this? Is it all just fun and games until the (supposed) leader of this team actually steps in/plays? Or are we really sending our backup QB out there to give fiery pre-game speeches right before kickoff? And then who’s talking at halftime? Deshaun goes out and throws 2 interceptions and the Browns are down 10 points at halftime against the Steelers. Does Jameis Winston stand up and say we need to get better? I hope this season brings us a lot of wins, but with Jameis Winston on the roster, it will certainly bring us a lot of memories…

If this whole NFL thing doesn’t work out, Jameis Winston will have to make cameo appearances selling his pregame speeches to youth and high school coaches.
