One of the smallest airports in the world has a waiting area under a mango tree

That’s about all the domestic airports there are.

A travel influencer made headlines when she shared her experience flying through one of the smallest airports in the world.

Rosy Palma, known online as @travelercolombia, posted a TikTok video from her travel day at Hacaritama Airport in Colombia.

She told the Post she made the video “to show the beauty in simplicity.”

The tour begins with Palma walking to a tree that casts shadows on a row of sunken seats that form the first waiting area.

The area also features a table with Colombian pastries and snacks available for purchase outdoors.

Guests are instructed to check their luggage themselves in the small indoor waiting area, where they will receive a ticket and then be guided back to the outdoor area.

“Here I have my hand luggage and over here you can see the other passengers waiting to be called to enter the second waiting room. On the other side is the runway for the planes. And the passengers who arrived late are queuing in the sun,” Palma said in the viral video that walks viewers through the area.

As it was time to board, she finally reached the indoor waiting area.

“This is the second lounge you enter when you board,” she said.

“And before you enter, your hand luggage will be checked manually again.”

There is only one toilet for everyone working at and traveling through the airport, but that was okay because Palma’s flight only carried 48 passengers.

Flights to El Dorado International Airport in Bogotá are operated exclusively by SATENA Airlines.

And she noted that it was “quite spacious and clean.”

About 20 minutes before departure, the passengers were allowed to take their seats and were quickly pushed on board.

Although the plane was small, Palma noted that the seats were comfortable and that she enjoyed her flight.

Hacaritama Airport is the only airport in Aguachica, Colombia.

Flights to El Dorado International Airport in Bogotá are operated exclusively by SATENA Airlines.

The small runway serves small ATR aircraft, which typically carry fewer than 50 passengers.

However, according to FlightsFrom.com, anyone wanting to travel to the big city can only travel on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.
