One more dry day before wet weather sets in in Maryland

(Updated September 16, 8:05 a.m.) Maryland’s long, dry spell of weather comes to an end tomorrow with the arrival of the next weather maker.

Monday will be dry and mostly cloudy as the state prepares for rainy weather. Temperatures will be between 25 and 25 degrees Celsius, a few degrees below average. It may be windy at times with gusts of up to 32 km/h.

The next weathermaker, potential Tropical Cyclone Eight, will make landfall today before moving northwestward toward the region. If it develops into a tropical cyclone, it would be named Helene.

Even if this system does not develop into a cyclone, it will still produce gusty winds and heavy rain. Wind gusts could exceed 25 mph tomorrow.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible tonight through tomorrow afternoon, but the chance of rain and thunderstorms increases tomorrow evening. Scattered thunderstorms will continue through the night and into Wednesday.

There may be rain showers again on Thursday and Friday. Saturday and Sunday will remain mostly dry.

The Baltimore metropolitan area could see up to 6 mm of rain, but some areas could see twice that amount due to heavy rainfall. Areas west and closer to the center of the depression could see up to 1.3 mm of rain.

Saturday and Sunday will be mostly dry. The sky will be partly cloudy and temperatures will remain cool. Maximum temperatures over the weekend will be between 25 and 25 degrees.
