Olympic gold medalist Stephen Curry makes a video advertisement for Kamala Harris at the DNC

Steve Kerr was not the only member of the Golden State Warriors to raise his voice at the Democratic National Convention.

On the fourth and final day of the event at Chicago’s United Center, Warriors star Stephen Curry spoke out with a video expressing his support for Vice President Kamala Harris while wearing the gold medal he won with Team USA at the Paris Olympics earlier this month.

Curry’s full comments:

“What’s up guys, it’s Stephen Curry. I know you all know I play for the Golden State Warriors, but man, what a great honor it was to represent Team USA, go out there and win the gold medal at the Olympics this summer. And that unity on and off the court reminded us all that together we can accomplish anything and continue to inspire the world. That’s why I believe Kamala as president can bring that unity back and continue to move our country forward. It’s about keeping the hope and faith in our country and making sure families can be taken care of in their most precious times.

“I was able to visit Kamala with my team at the White House last year and I can tell you one thing. I knew then and I definitely know now, the Oval Office is a good fit for her. So, in the words of Michelle Obama, do something. Go vote. Be active. Let’s show up in November like never before. It was an honor to represent our country. It’s an honor to support Kamala. Let’s all do our part and God bless you.”

The Curry video came two days after Kerr, his head coach, personally delivered a speech with a similar message of support for Harris, a Warriors fan, and her running mate Tim Walz, but did not mention her opponent, former President Donald Trump, until his last line, when he mentioned Curry.

Curry’s video was part of a long program that also included actress Kerry Washington, Reverend Al Sharpton, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Senator Liz Warren and finally Harris, who accepted the nomination with a 41-minute speech.

This isn’t Curry’s first time talking about politics, nor is it his first time appearing at the DNC. He and his wife Ayesha sent a video to the 2020 DNC supporting President Joe Biden. He has also talked about entering politics himself after his playing career.

Curry and the rest of the Warriors visited Biden and Harris at the White House last year after winning the 2022 NBA Finals. They also visited former President Barack Obama after winning the 2015 NBA Finals.

As for her titles in 2017 and 2018, Trump publicly withdrew the invitation in the first year, but only after Curry declared that he would not go to the White House.
