Matt Olson hit a two-run home run to break the tie in the seventh inning and the Atlanta Braves beat the Miami Marlins 6-2 on Saturday, staying two games behind the New York Mets for the National League’s final wild card spot.

New York defeated Philadelphia 6-3 at Citi Field, preventing the NL East-leading Phillies from winning the division title.

Gio Urshela and Jorge Soler also hit home runs for the Braves. Marcell Ozuna and Michael Harris II each had three hits.

Atlanta starter Max Fried allowed two runs – one earned – and five hits in six innings. Fried (10-10) managed one walk, six strikeouts and reached double-digit wins for the fourth time in his career.

“It’s the time of year and the situation we’re in — I’ve got two more starts to go — so you have to dig deep,” Fried said. “I wanted to make sure I left every bit of what I had out there today.”

Olson hit a 29th home run against reliever Lake Bachar (0-1) to break the 2-2 tie. Later in the inning, Urshela Bachar chased down a two-run drive that landed in the left field seats.

“I’m so happy for Matt where he is right now,” Braves manager Brian Snitker said. “If you look up, he has 30 (home runs) and 100 (RBIs). And Gio – what power in that guy. That was great. Nice to score those runs.”

Olson has 16 home runs since July 27 and 28 extra-base hits since August 1.

“I was looking for something to hit,” Olson said of his lead-winning home run. “I wanted to see something in the zone, and he kind of let a fastball come off the middle.”

Pierce Johnson, Joe Jiménez and Raisel Iglesias each pitched a scoreless inning as relief pitchers.

Harris also made two spectacular plays in center field, denying extra-base hits to Connor Norby and Derek Hill with running catches in the first and eighth innings.

“You get to a point where you have a pretty long film of highlights of what he does,” Snitker said.

Olson hit an RBI single in the fifth inning to give the Braves a 2-1 lead. Ozzie Albies hit a single and walked Ozuna before racing home on Olson’s line drive to left.

The Marlins tied the game in the sixth inning when Jonah Bride scored on a throwing error by Albies at second base while attempting a double play from second base.

Hill’s point-scoring triple gave Miami an early lead in the first before Soler tied the game with a home run off starter Adam Oller in the second.

Oller was replaced after 5 2/3 innings. The right-hander allowed two runs and eight hits. He allowed two walks and struck out seven times.

“I thought he was really good, he threw a lot of first-pitch strikes,” Marlins manager Skip Schumaker said. “He also got through a couple of tough innings. That shows he has what it takes to play here and be good enough to get into the rotation.”

Braves: RHP Reynaldo López (shoulder inflammation) played long toss in the final step of his rehabilitation. López has been out of action since September 10.

Marlins: Left-hander Braxton Garrett will undergo an MRI scan after feeling pain in the back of his elbow following his last bullpen session. Garrett hasn’t pitched since June 17 because of a strained forearm flexor. He was scheduled to start Sunday but was ruled out Friday.
