It turns out that Olivia Culpo wasn’t the only celebrity with Rhode Island roots who celebrated a big wedding here this summer.

Crooner Billy Gilman, who rose to fame as an 11-year-old with his Top 40 hit “One Voice” and later finished runner-up on “The Voice,” married Anthony Carbone on a 110-acre horse farm on Friday, People magazine reports. Gilman, who was born in Westerly and grew up in Richmond, said the place reminded him of visits to his grandparents, who lived on a horse farm.

And while Taylor Swift, another famous part-time Rhode Island resident, hosted a host of celebrity friends at her Watch Hill mansion this weekend, Gilman and Carbone held their intimate wedding with just 115 close friends and family members, People noted.

Gilman and Carbone’s love story is very Rhody-centric: They met at a bar in Providence the night before Thanksgiving 2022; then they got engaged last fall after attending a Pam Tillis concert in East Greenwich, according to the magazine. So it’s no surprise that the wedding itself featured some special Ocean State touches, like a dinner from Providence-based Pranzi Catering, cupcakes from Casale Cupcakery and even custom Dunkin’ Donuts as favors.

And despite his Rhode Island roots, Gilman, who has been nominated for a Grammy twice, told the magazine he has found his new home with Carbone. “I’m home. This is my home for better or for worse,” he said. “I’m really grateful that (Carbone) The somehow a human being because I never thought I would find him.”
