Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart shines again in the last game outside the conference

The Ole Miss Rebels extended their record to 4-0 on Saturday night thanks to another outstanding performance from quarterback Jaxson Dart.

Despite allowing their first touchdown of the season, Ole Miss’ defense remained strong behind Dart, who once again rushed for over 300 yards.

Dart finished the game completing 22 of 31 passes for 382 yards, four touchdowns and an interception for a consolation score.

Dart got going early, finding Tre Harris on the first play of the game for a 40-yard gain, followed shortly after by a 35-yard touchdown from Dart to Juice Wells, extending his touchdown streak to four games just 31 seconds into the game.

Just two drives later, Dart came back with another long touchdown, this time finding Jordan Watkins on a 23-yard pass for his second touchdown of the season.

Dart later made arguably his best throw of the night, hitting a tight end Tre Harris on the sideline for a 70-yard catch-and-run touchdown to extend the Rebels’ lead to 24-7, which would also be the halftime score.

Dart’s final touchdown came just two plays into the fourth quarter, and he again found Tre Harris. This time, Harris and Dart completed a beautiful 36-yard touchdown pass.

Dart has now increased his season totals to 1,172 passing yards, 12 touchdowns and 2 interceptions with an 83 percent completion rate and hopes to become Ole Miss’ first Heisman Trophy winner.

As the Rebels head into their first conference game next week, the offense behind Dart appears unstoppable and ready for SEC play.

“I’m happy with what we achieved,” Dart said after the game. “It’s time for all of us to step it up a gear. We all know that, but at the same time we’re going to enjoy the win.”

“It’s hard to win in college football, and I think we just have a lot of fun coming to work every day. But we also know there are things we need to improve.”

They begin league play next Saturday at home against Kentucky at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium before traveling to South Carolina and LSU two weeks in a row.
