Okemo Valley TV board members and volunteers recognized for their efforts

Okemo Valley TV has honored volunteers, including board members and community producers, who have made significant contributions to the nonprofit community media organization.

At the annual general meeting on June 27, two outgoing board members were honored for their many years of service.

First, George Thomson (19 years old) was awarded the Community Impact Award for his long-standing commitment to the organization and his contributions to the wider community.

Second, outgoing board member Noah Schmidt (8 years) was honored for his contributions, including his service as board chairman for the past four years.

The board also thanked another retiring member, Zachary McNaughton, for his volunteer work.

Newt Rose was re-elected to the Board for another term, while Sammy Blanchette and Stefan Beaumont were newly elected.

Okemo Valley TV also honored the community members and volunteers who made notable contributions to program production over the past year. The four annual Producer Awards were presented to the following individuals:

Producer of the Year: Claire McKey Berkman for producing the vlog “Yoh Theatre Players,” a series of behind-the-scenes looks at productions by the Woodstock Union High School student theatre program this past school year.

Youth Programs: Amy McMullen, community librarian at Cavendish Fletcher, for recording her Story Time reading series and for her involvement in the Cavendish After School Media Club, which led to the production of Little Miss Muffet.

Outstanding performance: Reverend Joseph and Jessica Arnold of Calvary Church in Proctorsville. They have been providing Okemo Valley TV with recordings of their services for many years. The audio and video quality is high and testifies to their mastery of the technical aspects of the production process.

Community Service Award: Will Simmoneau of TecGym Sports for his ongoing coverage of youth sports. He has covered numerous youth basketball, football, baseball and soccer games. This includes basketball tournaments at the Ludlow Community Center and American Legion Post 36 baseball games from Pullinen Field.
