Ohio State Buckeyes receive high ratings from college football analysts

The Ohio State Buckeyes continue to receive high praise as we head into the second week of the 2024 college football season.

Head coach Ryan Day and his team were ranked 25th among college football analysts Max Chadwick and Dalton Wasserman:

“After a sluggish first half, Ohio State woke up in the second quarter to beat Akron 52-6 in the season opener. True freshman Jeremiah Smith lived up to the hype as 247Sports’ highest-rated wide receiver recruit of all time, finishing his college debut with six catches on eight attempts for 92 yards and two scores.”

The Buckeyes remained ranked No. 2 in the AP Top 25 this week despite scoring 17 points in the first half against the Akron Zips. The Georgia Bulldogs are still considered the best team in college football, with Ohio State hot on the heels of head coach Kirby Smart’s team.

Both Chadwick and Wasserman, like most national media outlets, have recognized freshman Jeremiah Smith as a key player in the team’s offense. His incredible debut has put him in the conversation as one of the best wide receivers in college football, even though the Buckeyes’ roster includes two NFL-level pass catchers in Emeka Egbuka and Carnell Tate.

Ohio State hosts the Western Michigan Broncos in Week 2 on Saturday at 7:30 p.m., which will be a true test to prove that the Buckeyes can be productive in the first half of games this season.
