Official: Barcelona's starting lineup against AS Monaco

Barcelona will be looking to build on their perfect start to the new season by beating AS Monaco in their opening match of the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League league phase.

Just over an hour before kick-off at the Stade Louis II, coach Hansi Flick announced FC Barcelona’s starting eleven for the match against Adi Hütter’s team.

One of the biggest questions before the game was who Flick would bring into the team to replace the injured Dani Olmo.

And the Barça boss has decided to use Eric Garcia alongside Marc Casado as one of the defensive midfielders, allowing Pedri to take up the number 10 position.

The rest of the team largely sets itself up, with Marc-André ter Stegen in goal and Pau Cubarsi and Inigo Martinez as a duo in the centre of defence.

Jules Kounde and Alejandro Balde occupy the full-back positions.

Up front, Robert Lewandowski leads Barcelona’s attack against the Ligue 1 side, with in-form winger Lamine Yamal taking up his regular position on the right flank. Raphinha starts on the opposite flank.

Players like Pau Victor, Gerard Martin and Fernandez cousins Toni and Guille, all on the bench, could make their Champions League debut.
