Leon E. Schrader, 88, of Andalusia, passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 16, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 201 E. 4th Avenue, Milan. Viewing will be held one hour prior on Friday from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Illinois City Cemetery. Donations can be made to the Volunteer Ambulance of Andalusia.
Leon was born on August 13, 1935, in Delmar, Iowa, to Howard A. and Juanita (Burke) Schrader. He graduated from Delmar High School in 1952. Leon married Marietta Dusenberry on June 4, 1960. She predeceased him on April 21, 2023. Leon retired from Alcoa in 1997 after 43 years of service. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and enjoyed watching westerns. Most of all, Leon enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters.
Those left to cherish Leon’s memory include his daughters Lisa (Noel) Anderson and Vicki Blair, his grandchildren Nicole (Jayson) Blanchard, Sydney (John Jr.) Mosley and Lauren Anderson, and his great-grandchildren Jayton, Nikkolay, Athena, Anastasia and Atlas.
Leon was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Marietta, his young daughter Cynthia Schrader and his brothers William, Donald and Duane Schrader.
