Larry E. Miner, 80, of Rock Island, passed away at home on Sunday, August 11, 2024. Funeral services for Mr. Miner will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Viewing will be at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral service. Urn interment will be at Rock Island National Cemetery, where military honors will be rendered by the Milan American Legion Post No. 569. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
Larry was born on March 15, 1944, in Davenport, IA, to Benjamin and Avril (Douglass) Miner. He and his first wife, Linda, had three children together: Kristina, Caralee, and Brian. He also had a fourth child, Tonya, with his second wife, Jodi.
Larry was a graduate of Rock Island High School. He later enlisted in the U.S. Army. After many years of dedicated service, he retired from John Deere. He later worked for Exide Technologies in Burlington. Mr. Miner attended Edgewood Baptist Church in Rock Island. He was a member of the VFW and president of the Eagles Club. In his spare time, Larry enjoyed playing pool.
He is survived by his children Kristina (Michael) Kolodziej, South Elgin, ILL., Caralee (Hunter) Collins, Rock Island, Brian (Danelle) Miner, Davenport, and Tonya Rigsby, Springfield, OH.; his grandchildren Devin, Taryn, Allison, Alexa, Zachary, and Kayla; many nieces and nephews, and a sister, Patricia Wiederkerhr.
