Billy Ray Pollard Sr., affectionately known as Billy to all who knew him, entered into eternal rest on August 25, 2024 at the age of 83. Billy was born on May 28, 1941 in Wedowee, Alabama and his life ended peacefully surrounded by his loving family at his home in Lanett, Alabama. Billy was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and his love and legacy will be passed down from generation to generation.

Billy spent 63 beautiful years with his devoted wife, Celia Pollard, demonstrating a steadfast partnership that was an inspiring testament to true love. Together they raised a family that includes their children, Diane Byess (Paul), Terry Pollard (Kim), and James Pollard, all of whom carry on Billy’s strength and kindness. His joy in life continued to grow with his beloved grandchildren, Randi Foster (William), Teri Pollard Rialland (Matt), Jamey Pollard (Meagan), Joey Byess (Brandy), Chelsea Santoyo (Jessie), and Jeremy Pollard, and his great-grandchildren, Katelin Foster, Adron Foster, Wrangler Pollard, Kolton Hull, Truit Santoyo, Remington Santoyo, Roper Pollard, and Easton Byess, all of whom will remember their great-grandfather for his gentle spirit and wise disposition.

Billy’s beloved son Billy Ray Pollard Jr., his mother Alice Benefield and his father James Burt Pollard preceded him in passing. His memories will remain in the hearts of his family and all those who were fortunate enough to know him. Billy Ray Pollard Sr.’s remarkable legacy will be cherished and celebrated for generations to come.

Billy was a man of incredible integrity, known for his honesty, humility and strength of will. Colleagues and peers respected him for these qualities throughout his career and even when simply socializing with him. He found joy and meaning in his work and made sure his actions spoke as loudly as his words. He was a Baptist. His faith in the Lord was unwavering and he lived his life as an example of Christian goodness and wisdom. Billy’s passions included motorcycle rides with his friends and relaxing with classic cowboy movies, a reflection of his adventurous spirit.

Funeral services for Billy will be held at the graveside at Hillcrest Cemetery on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. (EDT). Brother Ron Williams will officiate. A wake is not planned.
