It’s Saturday – relax with a new Connections Puzzles and helpful tips from Newsweek.
The New York Times Wordplay rose rapidly in popularity on the heels of Wordleanother popular puzzle published by the newspaper. Connections is the second most played word game in the publication, with Wordle be the first.
Wyna Liu, Connections Developers and New York Times Crossword Editor, recently chatted with Newsweek about the popularity of the game.
“The response has been truly incredible, overwhelming and unexpected,” Liu said. “It’s exciting that something that is very close to my heart is resonating with people.”
When it comes to winning the game, Liu says players should “wait as long as possible before guessing.”

How to play “Connections”
Play Connections is fairly simple. Players must create four groups of four words with similar characteristics from a grid of 16 words. Each of these groups is assigned a certain difficulty category, from yellow (easiest) to purple (most difficult).
For example, in Friday’s puzzle, one of the categories was “Words after ‘kitty'” and the words associated with that category were “cat,” “corner,” “hawk,” and “litter.” This was a purple category.
Feel free to spend your entire Saturday working on the game, as there is no time limit to play. However, players only have four chances to win. If an answer is guessed correctly, those words will be shown in the category color and removed from the board. However, if the answer is incorrect, the words will remain on the grid.
If you need a refresher, click the “Randomize” button. This will rearrange the words to reset your brain.
