Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang’s professional experience shocks the Internet

Mr. Huang listed two positions in the “Professional Experience” section.

Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, is the 12th richest man in the world, according to the Bloomberg Billionaire Index. In June, Nvidia became the world’s most valuable publicly traded company, thanks to a boom driven by artificial intelligence. As a result, Mr. Huang was able to increase his net worth by over $4 billion in a single day. Since the beginning of 2019, the company’s share price has risen by 3,776% as the company makes profits from the sale of the primary chip required for artificial intelligence. Mr. Huang has frequently shared his journey from humble beginnings to leading the world’s largest chipmaker. In this context, the billionaire’s professional experience on LinkedIn has caught the attention of several users.

Mr. Huang has listed two jobs in the “work experience” section. The last one mentions him as founder and CEO of Nvidia from 1993 to the present. Before that, his roles included “dishwasher, busboy and waiter” at Denny’s. The 61-year-old worked at the diner-style restaurant chain for five years, from 1978 to 1983.

It was in a booth at the same Denny’s where he used to bus tables, wash dishes and clean toilets that he and his co-founders came up with the idea for Nvidia. Mr. Huang has previously said that his humble beginnings have made him the company leader he is today and that he believes no task is too small for him.

In March of this year, Mr. Huang gave an interview at the Stanford Graduate School of Business, where he talked about his experience at the breakfast chain Denny’s. “For me, no job is too much because, you know, I used to be a dishwasher. I cleaned toilets. I cleaned a lot of toilets. I cleaned more toilets than all of you put together,” Mr. Huang said. In the interview, Mr. Huang also said that this work ethic instilled in him a deep respect for all kinds of work and that he is “not afraid to get my hands dirty.”

“If you send me something and want to hear my comment on it, and I can help you with that – and share my thoughts with you in my meeting – then I have made a contribution for you,” Mr Huang added.
