Would you charge guests a fee to attend your wedding? In June 2023, newlyweds living in New York will Nova and Reemo Styles charged their close friends and family $333 for a ticket to attend their 12-hour, unconventional wedding ceremony in Manhattan.

According to videos shared on the couple’s Instagram page in late May, the duo held their wedding in the lavish St. Patrick’s Cathedraland transported their guests, who were asked to wear casual and comfortable clothes, to the venue in a double-decker bus decorated with their beautiful wedding photographs.

Planning a wedding in a city like New York can be incredibly expensive. Costs can exceed $63,000, as reported by the knot. Nova and Reemo had to pay a hefty price tag of $150,000 for their dream venue, St. Patrick’s Cathedral. However, with the support of their generous family and friends and a clever ticket sales strategy, they managed to save almost $70,000 on wedding costs, according to ABC 7 Chicago.

What happened at the wedding?

The guests at the party seemed to have a fantastic time. The Daily Mail reported that guests enjoyed a delicious dinner of lobster and steak during the reception. Additionally, the couple had the funds to book Fabolous to perform, which added a special touch to the event, as seen in a video posted to their Instagram page on July 5. The couple could be seen dancing and laughing with guests as they partied the night away.

The wedding wasn’t just about fun and games.

Nova and Reemo’s unconventional ceremony has upset some people close to them, who couldn’t understand why the lovebirds would give out tickets for their special day.

“I would never spend money on tickets,” one of her close friends is said to have said, Nova told ABC 7 Chicago. “Who do you think you are? Beyoncé and Jay-Z?” someone else complained,” said Reemo. Non-traditionalists also flooded social media to complain about the couple’s wedding strategy, with some calling the move “cheesy.”

One user wrote: “If you can’t afford a big wedding, don’t have one! Why do people insist on living beyond their means? The most important part of your marriage isn’t your wedding. It’s actually everything that comes after.”

Despite some obstacles, Nova and Reemo are thrilled to have celebrated their dream wedding. They want to use the remaining money to start a family to make their joy even greater.
