A new Northwest Bank interactive ATM is located at the bank’s new drive-thru location at Avenue E and Kenyon Road. The new location is expected to be ready for customers in early September.

A new Northwest Bank branch in Fort Dodge offers customers the opportunity to speak with and literally see a bank teller without having to get out of their vehicle.

This will be possible thanks to an interactive ATM at the bank’s Kenyon Road location.

“We want to offer our customers multiple options for conducting banking transactions,” said John Taets, regional bank president of Northwest Bank.

“It allows people to do their banking whenever they want,” he added.

The device that will make this possible looks and works like a traditional ATM, and Taets said customers will be able to use it in the same way they withdraw cash from an ATM.

However, the machine does offer the ability to contact a bank employee to perform many other tasks. All a customer has to do is tap the screen and a Northwest Bank employee, usually someone from the bank’s service center in Spencer, will come to assist them.

“Our live banking service is accessible via our ATM,” Said Taets. “It is an advanced technology that connects our customers face-to-face with a real Northwest Bank employee through the ATM’s video screen.”

The Live Banking service allows customers to make deposits and withdrawals, cash checks, transfer money between accounts, and pay loan installments. Applying for loans and opening new accounts are pretty much the only things customers cannot do with this service.

The service will be available Monday to Friday from 7am to 7pm and Saturday from 8am to 12pm. Outside of these hours, the machine will only offer traditional ATM services.

The interactive ATM is the focal point of the bank’s location at Kenyon Road and Avenue E, across from UnityPoint Health – Trinity Regional Medical Center.

Taets said the bank has owned the site for 15 to 20 years and wants to expand there someday. He said the presence of major employers on Fort Dodge’s west side, including the hospital, Friendship Haven and Iowa Central Community College, makes it an inviting area for expansion.

Jensen Builders Ltd. of Fort Dodge is the general contractor for the project. The company recently completed an expansion of the bank branch at 10 N. 29th St.

“They continue to do great work for us,” Said Taets.

The bank location will open at the beginning of September.
