North Carolina Republican gubernatorial candidate Mark Robinson is facing calls to withdraw his candidacy amid rumors of an impending bombshell.
There have been reports of unrest in North Carolina’s Republican Party over negative news about Lieutenant Governor Mark Robinson, the current gubernatorial candidate.
The previously unpublished story reportedly relates to Robinson’s activity on adult websites in the 2000s, the Carolina Journal reported. Robinson and his campaign team did not respond to requests for comment from Fox News Digital.
Sources told the Journal that members of Robinson’s staff and former President Donald Trump’s campaign team are urging Robinson to drop out of the race.
Michael Lonergan, Robinson’s campaign communications director, denied the allegations in a statement to the magazine.
“Whoever your sources are, it’s pure fiction,” he told the outlet.

Mark Robinson’s campaign team has denied claims that there are calls for him to end his career.
The reports come after Robinson canceled two campaign events on Thursday. He was scheduled to appear alongside Senator JD Vance, but his campaign said Robinson had tested positive for COVID.

A source reportedly told the Journal that Trump’s campaign told Robinson earlier this week that he was not welcome at campaign events. The story allegedly came from the campaign team of Robinson’s opponent, Attorney General Josh Stein, which passed the information on to CNN and a local broadcaster.

Robinson secured the Republican nomination for governor in March. If he wins the election, he would be the state’s first black governor.
