Why a CGI-free version of Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes will be so interesting

It offers a deeper insight into the filmmaking process

While Planet of the Apes: Kingdom is streaming on Hulu, meaning viewers can already watch the film from home, the upcoming version without CGI will offer a very different experience. As shown in the clip, The actors must stay in character even when wearing their equipment. They perform in spaces that are much emptier than in the final cut of the film. However, their performances are not compromised by their outfits, meaning they still have to bring their acting chops to the set even if their bodies aren’t in the film at the end.

Without CGI, the performances in the film can be observed in greater detail, showing how much the actors embody their characters even without special effects. The same goes for their interactions with their environment, as this version lacks the computer-generated locations that make up a large portion of the film. The combination of real actors and incomplete sets will undoubtedly highlight the talent needed to make the film a whole seamless when post-production began.
