No. 4 Alabama stifles No. 2 Georgia’s comeback attempt, winning 41-34

Alabama wide receiver Germie Bernard scores a touchdown

With less than 50 seconds left and the Georgia offense was approaching the red zone. Alabama defensive lineman Zabien Brown intercepted Beck’s intended pass to Colbie Young in the end zone.

The interception ended the Bulldogs’ comeback effort and led to a 41-34 victory for Alabama.

Although the Crimson Tide had full momentum in the first half, scoring four straight touchdowns to open the primetime affair and producing over 350 total yards, Georgia gave fans a reason to grab popcorn in the second half.

The Bulldogs outscored Alabama 27-11 after halftime, including three straight touchdowns in the fourth quarter. After an unforgettable first-half performance, Beck recorded 339 passing yards and three passing touchdowns. The loss ended the program’s 42-game regular-season winning streak.

In a game that looked like it might be coach Kirby Smart’s worst loss to Alabama and quickly became the game of the year, the Crimson Tide improved to 4-0 and gave coach Kalen DeBoer his first win of the season. Georgia falls to 3-1.
