Nicole Evers-Everette was found safe after going missing on September 22nd

Police and family say Nicole is safe

The granddaughter of civil rights activists Medgar Evers and Myrlie Evers-Williams has been found after being missing for more than four days.

A news release from the Evers-Everette family said Nicole Evers-Everette left her home in Duluth, Georgia, on Sept. 22 and was not heard from until she was found Friday morning. Both the family and Gwinnett County police said Nicole had been found and was “doing well.”

“I’m just so grateful that my Niki was found safe. Thank you to God, law enforcement and everyone who helped us find Niki. “I am eternally grateful and overwhelmed by the love and support we have shown during this difficult time,” said Reena Evers-Everette, Nicole’s mother. “I understand that this outcome would not be possible without the incredible commitment of my family and the power of media and social media. My deepest thanks go to everyone who showed up, spoke out and stood up to help find my daughter.”

Gwinnett Police Department spokesman Corporal Juan Madiedo said Nicole left her apartment of her own accord, but he could not say where she went or her exact condition.

“She’s safe,” he said.
