NHC: If a disturbance spreads to the Gulf of Mexico next week, a tropical depression could form

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – A tropical depression could form as a low pressure system moves toward the Gulf of Mexico, according to the National Hurricane Center.

The low pressure system could form early next week as it moves over the Caribbean Sea.

“A tropical wave is likely to develop in the western Caribbean early next week. Right now, the probability is 40% in seven days. Many models are pushing the system north into the Gulf of Mexico by the middle of next week. Since the system has not yet formed, it is far too early to know where it will move or how strong it will be. More details will emerge as the system forms and organizes,” said Leigh Spann, meteorologist at Max Defender 8.

The probability of occurrence in the next seven days is 40%.

The rest of Gordon is still bringing showers and thunderstorms to the central subtropical Atlantic.

As the storm moves north, some development is possible over the next few days, but conditions are expected to be less conducive to development, according to the NHC.

The probability of a development in the next two days is 30%.

According to the NHC, a low-pressure system located about 750 miles southeast of Bermuda shows little change in its structure.

As the current moves over open waters next week, certain developments are possible.

The probability of a development in the next two days is 20%, and in the next seven days it is 30%.
