New York Jets 24, New England Patriots 3

The New York Jets kicked off Week 3 on Thursday night with a 24-3 win over the New England Patriots at MetLife Stadium. All the focus was on Aaron Rodgers, who returned to the spot where he tore his Achilles tendon last season, and he impressed, completing 27 of 35 passes for 281 passing yards and two touchdowns. In addition, the Jets’ defense was outstanding, slowing down Jacoby Brissett and New England’s offense to the tune of -0.441 EPA per play.

With the win, the Jets are 2-1 this season, while the Patriots fall to 1-2.

Indianapolis Colts 21, Chicago Bears 16

Jonathan Taylor led the Indianapolis Colts to a 21-16 victory over the Chicago Bears on Sunday, rushing for 110 yards and two touchdowns on 23 carries. Trey Sermon scored another point as the Colts (1-2) avoided their first 0-3 start since 2021.

The game was far from flawless, with Caleb Williams and Anthony Richardson each throwing two interceptions. On the plus side for Bears fans, Williams threw his first NFL touchdown passes and set season highs in passing yards. Richardson’s performance, however, left a lot to be desired, as he continued to make questionable decisions and ended up with two turnovers.

New York Giants 21, Cleveland Browns 15

The New York Giants beat the Cleveland Browns on the road in Week 3 thanks to another standout game from rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers.

Nabers, the No. 6 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, scored in double figures for the second week in a row and scored two touchdowns, and the Giants used that performance to beat the Browns 21-15.

Minnesota Vikings 34, Houston Texans 7

Sam Darnold caught a career-high four touchdown passes and led the Minnesota Vikings to a 34-7 victory over the Houston Texans, securing their undefeated season.

The Vikings defense, led by Jonathan Greenard’s three sacks, pressured CJ Stroud throughout the game, forcing two interceptions and disrupting the Texans offense.

Darnold found Justin Jefferson and Aaron Jones for early touchdowns. He later connected with Jalen Nailor for a touchdown for the third straight game and scored another touchdown to tight end Johnny Mundt.

Jefferson recorded six catches for 81 yards, while Jones added 102 rushing yards and 46 receiving yards. Darnold finished the game completing 17 of 28 passes for 181 yards, and while he didn’t officially throw an interception, he finished the game with two turnover-worthy plays.

Philadelphia Eagles 15, New Orleans Saints 12

Saquon Barkley led the Philadelphia Eagles to a 15-12 victory over the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, scoring two key fourth-quarter touchdowns, including a 65-yard breakaway run and a game-winning 4-yard rush with just over a minute left.

Philadelphia’s defense came into play in the final minute when safety Reed Blankenship intercepted Derek Carr’s pass to secure the win.

The Eagles’ defense was able to successfully stop New Orleans’ offense, which had been the NFL’s top scoring team in the first two weeks of the season.

Pittsburgh Steelers 20, Los Angeles Chargers 10

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin is on pace to produce another .500-plus season, and quarterback Justin Fields has proven to be a valuable sidekick.

Fields and the Steelers delivered a convincing performance for the third week in a row, extending their record to 3-0 with a 20-10 win over the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 3.

Denver Broncos 26, Tampa Bay Buccaneers 7

Bo Nix’s NFL career started anything but promising, but the successful Tampa Bay Buccaneers met an improved version of the Denver Broncos’ rookie quarterback.

Nix made the third big play of his Broncos tenure, albeit on two turnover-worthy plays, for 47 yards and a touchdown on the ground. He will earn a career-high grade from PFF in his first NFL win, pending review.

Tampa Bay’s offense couldn’t keep up with Nix’s performance and the Broncos left the field with a 26-7 victory in Week 3.

Green Bay Packers 30, Tennessee Titans 14

Malik Willis delivered his best NFL performance in Week 3, leading the Green Bay Packers to a dominant 30-14 victory over the Tennessee Titans.

As a replacement for the injured Jordan Love – the should Will be back in action next week – Willis threw for 202 yards, ran for 73 yards and scored two touchdowns.

Willis was responsible for almost all of the Packers’ offense in the first quarter, accounting for 134 of the 137 yards, while cornerback Jaire Alexander extended the early lead with his first pick-six of his career.

The Packers defense was relentless, recording over 20 total pressures and forcing three turnovers.

Carolina Panthers 36, Las Vegas Raiders 22

Bryce Young may remain on the bench for a while longer.

After leaving the 2023 first-round pick on the bench and turning to experienced Andy Dalton for Week 3, the Carolina Panthers looked like a new team. Thanks to Dalton’s three touchdown passes, they crushed the Las Vegas Raiders 36-22.

Seattle Seahawks 24, Miami Dolphins 3

Geno Smith completed 26 of his 34 passes for 289 yards, including a 71-yard touchdown to DK Metcalf, but also threw two interceptions as the Seattle Seahawks cruised to a 24-3 victory over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.

Zach Charbonnet contributed two rushing touchdowns and helped Seattle control the game from start to finish.

While the Seahawks’ offense took over, most of the attention was on Miami’s ongoing quarterback issues. A week after Tua Tagovailoa was sidelined with a concussion, Skylar Thompson left the game in the second half with a chest injury. Backup Tim Boyle was unable to mount a comeback, leaving the Dolphins, 1-2, still searching for a quarterback solution.

Baltimore Ravens 28, Dallas Cowboys 25

It was only a matter of time before running back Derrick Henry celebrated his first monster game as a member of the Baltimore Ravens.

Week 3 was the stage and Henry was the star, running for 151 yards and scoring two points against the Dallas Cowboys in a 28-25 victory that put the Ravens on the winning list.

It wasn’t easy, as Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott helped his team score 19 points in the fourth quarter on a brave comeback, but Henry and Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson prevailed in the end.

Kansas City Chiefs 22, Atlanta Falcons 17

Kansas City’s defense showed a strong performance in the final minutes and secured a 22-17 victory over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday night, extending the Chiefs’ winning streak to 3-0.

Kirk Cousins two passes were unsuccessful, End zone from the Chiefs’ 6-yard line, stopped a Falcons attack and Bijan Robinson was tackled in the final minute on a crucial fourth-and-1 attempt at the Kansas City 13-yard line and lost 3 yards.

Even though it was a close win, the Chiefs’ defense once again delivered a convincing performance in the decisive moments, continuing a trend that was often observed last year.
