STARKVILLE, Mississippi – Mississippi State is getting in on the food truck trend this fall, with several local vendors coming to campus to tickle the taste buds of university students and staff.

MSU Dining Services is setting up rotating trucks offering everything from barbecue to burgers at convenient locations on campus. Two in the YMCA Plaza — including the Perry Food Truck — will debut the new food options on the first day of classes, Wednesday, Aug. 21. Spotlight Café in Starkville, BBQ Drippins in West Point and Pressed for Time will also join on staggered start dates, all open Monday through Friday.

The new Dawg Dollars – formerly Flex Dollars – in the fall dining plan can be used by students for food truck orders through the Grubhub app. The app is the access point for students and staff to order from most trucks and can be downloaded here: https://msstatedining.campusdish.com/MobileOrdering.

Block meals can also be used for convenient service at the Perry Food Truck and the new Perry-to-Go location – the former site of the State Fountain Bakery – in the Colvard Student Union.

In addition to these mobile food options, MSU Dining Services opened a renovated space — formerly University Florist — this summer as a modernized Subway restaurant and new Bento Sushi. Additionally, Starkville-based Umble Coffee Co. now serves espresso, cappuccinos and more at the Barnes & Noble at MSU cafe.

Many of these dining improvements occurred in conjunction with the ongoing renovation of the Perry Cafeteria, one of the university’s most historic buildings, built in 1921 and designated a Mississippi Landmark.
