New York Jets vs. Tennessee Titans: Second Half

The first half of the New York Jets’ Week 2 game against the Tennessee Titans is over and the Jets are three points behind the Titans at 10-7.

The Jets started the game on the defensive and soon forced a three-and-out and a punt from the Titans.

The Jets then managed a first down before being penalized for intentional grounding by Aaron Rodgers and being forced to punt.

The Titans got the ball and marched down the field with a series of short passes and running plays. The attack ended with a touchdown and an early 7-0 lead for the Titans.

The Jets got the ball back and promptly scored three runs from Breece Hall as the first quarter came to a close. It was not an encouraging start to the game for the Jets.

The second quarter began with a punt by the Jets. The Titans took over the offense and immediately went on a big run, adding a horse collar penalty to the Jets that gave the Titans the ball near the halfway line. The Titans again marched down the field with little resistance from the Jets defense. They had a first and goal inside the Jets 10-yard line before a lateral by Will Levis was fumbled and the Jets recovered the ball, averting disaster for the time being.

The Jets again conceded three goals and were eliminated, unable to get the offensive ball past the Titans’ solid defense. The game bore ominous parallels to last week’s crushing loss to the 49ers, as the Titans dominated the action on both sides of the ball.

On the next play, the Jets intercepted a long pass from Will Levis and the offense had another chance to get something going.

With Breece Hall injured on the sidelines, Braelon Allen came in and gave the Jets a new lease of life. A few runs from Allen, some quick passes, and a beautiful misdirection play that led to a touchdown pass to Allen revived the Jets offense and tied the game at 7-7 with less than two minutes left in the half.

Unfortunately, the tie was short-lived. The Jets defense continued to offer only token resistance to the Titans offense. The Titans marched down the field and ended the half with a field goal, taking a 10-7 lead into the locker room. If not for some terrible plays by Will Levis, the Titans could and should have had a double-digit lead by now.
