The New York couple who sparked a viral debate for charging guests hundreds to attend their wedding continue to post about their unconventional nuptials on social media.

On TikTok, the newlyweds listed the “unconventional things we did at our wedding.” In their seventh post yesterday, they said: “Our wedding guests started our wedding day with sound meditation.”

Bronx residents Nova and Reemo Styles, who tied the knot in June 2023 at St. Patrick’s Cathedral and then at One World Trade Center, made headlines after it was revealed that they had asked their guests to each pony up money for the celebration.

Other aspects of their big day that they highlighted included their guests wearing jeans, them shutting down Fifth Avenue for their first dance, and their bridal party wearing custom-made, colorful outfits.

Last month, the couple told The Washington Post that they decided on the cost of the event after realizing that hosting a wedding in New York would cost at least $150,000.

Sixty of the 350 people invited to their 12-hour soiree attended and saved $70,000, which they will eventually use to start a family.

Although some TikTokers call the couple “smart,” others criticize their frugal lifestyle.

“What a joke! These people are cheapskates! They want the bling but are too cheapskates to pay for it. They expect their friends to pay for their wedding! I would end my friendship with anyone who tried that,” Pennymurdaugh said.

The couple responded to the comment by saying, “Penny, thanks for your assumptions! It’s silly to think that 60 tickets could fund our 12 hour wedding day!! That was definitely not the case and we paid for our entire wedding ourselves!!”
