A new “Predator” film is currently in the works. Prey filmmaker Dan Trachtenberg is set to direct.
The film, titled “Badlands,” is being directed by Trachtenberg from a screenplay he co-wrote with Patrick Aison, who also wrote “Prey.”
Trachtenberg, known for the sci-fi horror film “10 Cloverfield Lane,” breathed new life into the Alien series with the critically acclaimed “Prey,” which was nominated for both best director and best screenplay for a miniseries, anthology series or movie at last month’s Emmy Awards.

Despite the success of the 2022 film, Badlands will have no connection to it as it is expected to be a standalone story.
Plot details of Trachtenberg’s upcoming film are being kept secret, but Deadline reports that the director and studio bosses are keen to select a lead star soon.
Meanwhile, there is a possibility that star Amber Midthunder will reprise her role as Comanche nation warrior Naru in a previously announced Prey sequel. If confirmed, Prey 2 would be the first film in the saga to feature the same protagonist, with Midthunder’s return.

Speaking about the sequel in January 2023, Midthunder said she “would love” to be part of a new Prey adventure, although she had no idea when that would happen – and it seems likely that Badlands will now delay Prey 2 production further.
“I don’t have a date for you,” the actress told Variety last year.
“It’s not an announcement, but I’m not saying it’s not one either. We talk about all kinds of things all the time and this was probably one of them,” she added.
“I’m ready. I loved this experience. I love this movie. I’d be excited to see where else we can take it.”
