New Orleans man arrested for injuring two female bystanders | Crime/Police

New Orleans police have arrested a man who allegedly injured two innocent bystanders in a shooting outside a Mid-City bar last month.

Terence Files, 33, was booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center on Friday on two counts of second-degree aggravated assault and unlawful use of a weapon.

Files is accused of shooting a man in the parking lot of a Mid-City bar. He wounded two women, one in the arm and the other in the chest, in the 4100 block of South Carrollton Avenue, according to documents filed by New Orleans Police Department detectives in Criminal District Court.

The two women, cousins, were walking to their car outside the bar around 1 a.m. on July 13 when they were struck by the bullets, court records show. A relative of the victims was with them and took them both to University Medical Center, where they were hospitalized, court records show.

Surveillance footage from a neighboring business confirmed the shooting and shows one of the suspected shooters entering the store to purchase an energy drink shortly before the shooting. After the image of the man from the footage was released to the public, he was identified as Files, police wrote in the documents.

The documents will be submitted for a bail hearing on Saturday afternoon. No other suspects were named in the case.
