Two Netflix originals star among this week’s top TV shows and movies on Netflix.
First up is “Terminator Zero,” the Netflix series I’m by far most looking forward to this week. This animated series is set in the “Terminator” universe and Timothy Olyphant voices a Terminator. I’m now officially a real nerd.
The film “Everyone’s First to Die” is a supernatural thriller directed by Oscar-nominated director Lee Daniels and starring eight-time Oscar nominee Glenn Close. For those who prefer fact to fiction, there are also a couple of documentaries coming out this week.
Here’s a full breakdown of this week’s new Netflix releases. For more recommendations, check out this dark thriller on Netflix with a 94% on Rotten Tomatoes.
New on Netflix this week: Top picks
“Untold: Sign Thief”
Watch on
“Untold” is a series of sports documentaries from Netflix – “Untold: The Murder of Air McNair” was released on the streaming service just last week.
This installment, “Untold: Sign Stealer,” focuses on Connor Stalions and his role in the Michigan sign-stealing scandal. In 2023, the NCAA launched an investigation into allegations that a University of Michigan Wolverines football employee ran a complex sign-stealing operation that violated NCAA rules. If the allegations are true, it could give the Michigan program a reputation as a cheater and result in serious consequences.
The investigation is ongoing, and some – including Stalions – have already been disciplined or lost their jobs. In “Untold,” Stalions will address these allegations for the first time, even though doing so could cause further damage to the Michigan football program.

“The worst ex ever”
Watch on
Many of us have had bad relationships, but hopefully none as bad as the ones in “Worst Ex Ever.” A spin-off of “Worst Roommate Ever,” this Netflix docuseries explores four true stories of truly terrible relationships. The episodes deal with betrayal, violence, and cheating, so consider this a trigger warning if you find this stuff (understandably) too disturbing to watch.
Produced by renowned horror studio Blumhouse, the show uses a combination of eyewitness testimony, bodycam footage, and reenactments. If you’re a fan of true crime or horror, Worst Ex Ever should definitely be on your watchlist.

‘Chaos’
Watch on
Kaos is a British Netflix original series starring Jeff Goldblum as the Greek god Zeus. For most people, that would be enough to convince them to watch the series, but just in case you’re not convinced, I’ll give you a slightly more detailed synopsis.
Set in modern day, “Kaos” stars Goldblum as Zeus, an all-powerful but very insecure god. When he notices a frown on his forehead, Zeus begins to wonder if his reign is coming to an end. If so, it could mean the end of the world. Paranoid, he begins to lash out at his fellow gods and three humans whose existence could bring about his downfall.

“Terminator Zero”
Watch on
Terminator Zero is set in the same universe and timeline as the original Terminator film. It is set in a future where the AI Skynet has taken over the world. To maintain its power, Skynet sends robot assassins called Terminators to eliminate potential threats – past or present.
Terminator Zero, however, is not set in the United States. Instead, this animated series is set in 1997 Japan before the events of Judgement Day, and stars Timothy Olyphant as the murderous cybernetic assassin tasked with taking out scientist Malcolm Lee (André Holland) before Lee can harm Skynet. I am beyond excited for this series and will definitely watch it when it comes to Netflix.

‘The Redemption’
Watch on
“Everyone’s First to Die” is based on the true story of the Ammons haunting. The Ammons family of Gary, Indiana, claimed paranormal activity, including demonic possession, occurred in their home.
In this Lee Daniels film, the story is set in Pennsylvania, and the Ammons family is replaced by Ebony (Andra Day), her mother Alberta (Glenn Close), and their three children Andre (Anthony B. Jenkins), Nate (Caleb McLaughlin), and Shante (Demi Singleton). This Netflix original film also features a cast including several Oscar nominees, including Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, Mo’Nique, and Omar Epps.
