curiosity It premiered on March 8 at the South by Southwest festival, and was released in theaters in the United States on July 19, 2024. Not long after, the horror film, which boasts a near-perfect Rotten Tomatoes score, is already available for streaming.

curiosity was recently released on VOD on August 20, 2024, with the physical release scheduled for October 22, 2024. However, audiences will be able to see the film sooner as it exclusively on Shudder on September 27thThe film will be available on the platform in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the UK and Ireland.

curiosity is written and directed by Damian McCarthy, and stars Gwilym Lee (Bohemian Rhapsody), Carolyn Bracken (The quiet girl), Tadhg Murphy (The Northman), Steve Wall (Dune – Part Two), Jonathan French (Reservation) and newcomer Caroline Menton. The horror film debuted with a perfect Rotten Tomatoes rating before its release, and its rating hasn’t changed much since then.

curiosity is Certified Fresh with a score of 96% out of 100 reviews. Many critics praise the film as “really scary” and point out that it still gives a unique take on the horror genre while also quoting horror classics. The audience rating is not quite as high but is still encouraging, with the horror film scoring 82% on the Popcorn Meter.

The supernatural horror film follows a blind, self-proclaimed psychic who is still grieving the death of her twin sister, who was brutally murdered. When she visits her late sister’s husband and her new friend, she brings a life-sized wooden mannequin as a gift from her curiosity shop, hoping that it might help her avenge her sister’s murder.

McCarthy developed Oddity, another critically acclaimed horror film, at the same location

Director Damian Mc Carthy made his feature film debut in 2020 with ReservationThe horror film has an 82% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes and is Certified Fresh. However, it only has a 56% rating from audiences.

McCarthy shot both films in the same location – West Cork, Ireland. The rabbit puppet from the 2020 horror film also appears in a brief scene in curiositybecause the director was developing both films simultaneously. He also bought many of the props for the film himself, reports The Austin Chronicle.
