New food truck offers Polish and American specialties

7 August 2024

A new food truck in the Sioux Falls area this season is the creation of Polish immigrants.

Lukasz and Ewelina Bronikowski from Brandon founded Heavenly Food.

“The menu is pretty simple at the moment,” says Lukasz Bronikowski, who gave up his job as a truck driver to start the business.

His signature dish is his “world famous” chicken burger. “I make my own patties using ground beef from the thighs and bacon for the fat,” he said. “Another one is our burger. It’s a handmade patty made from local, high-quality ground beef. And I make fresh-cut fries that are made to order.”

Bronikowski moved to the United States in 2000, and Ewelina came to the country in 2003. They met and later married. The couple moved from Chicago to the Sioux Falls area in 2022 because they did not want their children, now 9 and 6 years old, to grow up there, they said.

As a nod to their former home, the menu includes a popular Chicago dish: the Maxwell Street Polish, a Polish sausage served on a hot dog bun with grilled onions and yellow mustard.

Sometimes Bronikowski makes Chicago-style hot dogs with tomatoes, pickles, peppers, onions, sweet green pickle relish and yellow mustard. Served with freshly squeezed lemonade.

Eventually, they plan to add a Polish dish, pierogi, to the menu.

“This was my husband’s dream,” said Ewelina. “He’s really good at it.”

Heavenly Food is part of the monthly Split Rock Farmers Market in Garretson and hosts several pop-ups at area businesses each week.
