Nebraska football will face three of the sport’s softest coaches in 2024

One of the things that has made Matt Rhule so popular with Nebraska football fans is that he doesn’t seem to get fazed by off-field nonsense. He is created a culture in Lincoln who understands that there will be critics and complainers, but the Huskers’ boss seems to know how to ignore them.

On the other hand, as we prepare for the 2024 season to really get into full swing, one of the strangest aspects of the offseason has been the number of coaches who seem to absolutely Charmin softand are disturbed by everything and everyone.

I’m not the only one who thinks so. One analyst has taken the trouble to compile a list of the “softest” head coaches in the sport. And as it turns out, Nebraska football will face three of the five on her list. That might even be a reason why some are calling the NU-Colorado matchup a “Culture war.”

Not only will Rhule and Co. face three of what Sam Farriss calls the “softest” coaches, but they will face the softest of them all in Week 2 when they host the Buffaloes and Deion Sanders.

“From his tirades on social media to bullying players from his program, Deion Sanders has become an absolute clown since taking over the Colorado Buffaloes in 2023,” Farriss wrote about how he took first place.

But wait – as the advertisers in the infomercials always said – there’s more.

Ohio State head coach Ryan Day is ranked fourth out of five on the list of “softest coaches.” The Huskers will see him on October 26.

Aside from his inability to beat the Michigan Wolverines, which puts him in the firing line year after year, Ryan Day does not take criticism well at all.

And finally, there’s the newest addition to the Big Ten: Lincoln Riley and his USC Trojans. The Huskers will see him two weeks after their game against Ryan Day.

Not only did he leave Oklahoma when rumors began circulating that the Sooners might move to the SEC, but he also literally tried to run away from a game against LSU.

One can only hope that the Nebraska football program can somehow exploit the weakness of these head coaches in such big games.
