The National Weather Service in Norman is offering a free webinar on storm watching and chasing on Thursday, August 29. This comes as interest in the activity has increased following the blockbuster hit Twisters.

Since the film’s premiere, the National Weather Service has received many questions from people interested in storm chasing and storm watching. Due to the high level of interest, the weather service is now offering a public webinar.

The webinar will provide valuable information to anyone interested in learning more about the science of tornadoes, the National Weather Service said.

The webinar will cover how the movie portrays weather and science compared to reality. Participants will receive basic information on how to watch storms safely and how to get to safety during real tornadoes.

The webinar is free, but registration is required. The event will take place on Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
