National exhibition presents achievements of students in the field of nanotechnology

TEHRAN – The 14th National Exhibition of Student Achievements in Nanotechnology is scheduled to be held in Tehran from November 3 to 6, concurrently with the 15th Iranian Nanotechnology Exhibition.

The event provides a great opportunity for talented students to showcase their skills in various fields, such as solutions and products, scientific reports, research articles, teaching aids, games and entertainment, nanotechnology lectures, and artworks including short films and crafts.

As part of the event, free workshops on founding and developing startups will be organized for selected students.

The goal is to help top students learn how to develop and market a product.

The use of nanotechnology in the areas of water and environment, energy, health and hygiene, textiles, automotive engineering, agriculture and nutrition are the main themes of this year’s exhibition.

The aim of the 15th Nanotechnology Exhibition is to expand the market, increase the number of innovative enterprises and boost the export of products in various industrial sectors.

The first Nanotechnology Exhibition was held in 2004 under the auspices of the Nanotechnology Development Center to identify research and industrial potential and increase public knowledge in the field of nanotechnology. The event is held annually and attracts both domestic and foreign technologists.

Iran is a world leader in nanotechnology

Iran’s achievements in nanotechnology are remarkable. The increase in scientific publications and sales of nanoproducts proves that Iran has become a global leader in this field.

Among the sectors that have seen good growth in Iran in recent years is the nanotechnology industry, a field that has earned Iran an impressive fourth place in the world.

According to StatNano, a leading nanotechnology website, Iran has made great progress in the field of nanotechnology and ranks fourth in terms of nanotechnology publications.

This ranking is evidence of the country’s remarkable scientific development.

The site takes into account the number of scientific articles to compare scientific progress in nanoscience, technology and industry.

Nanotechnology is the manipulation of matter at a nearly atomic level to create new structures, materials, and devices. The technology promises scientific advances in many fields, including medicine, consumer products, energy, materials, and manufacturing. Nanotechnology refers to engineered structures, devices, and systems.

Over the past two decades, there has been a steady increase in the number of industries producing nano-based products and in the number of countries promoting nanotechnology worldwide.

More importantly, the ratio of nanotechnology to nominal GDP has increased significantly, suggesting that the contribution of nanotechnology to world GDP has increased. Nanotechnology has also played a key role in creating new jobs, Press TV reported.

The nanotechnology sector is a prime example of success in Iran, a field comprised of skilled and program-oriented human resources with significant goals that shine like a jewel in the country’s innovation and technology ecosystem.

With the support of talented academics and knowledge-based companies, the nanotechnology sector has succeeded in developing numerous technologies that can solve the country’s key challenges in various sectors, including industry.

Policy-making and planning for advances in nanotechnology began in 2003 with the establishment of a dedicated Nanotechnology Development Center and was accelerated with the adoption of the first 10-year document for nanotechnology development, the Future Strategy Document.

According to recent statistics, Iranian nanotechnology products are exported to 48 countries around the world.

The top five export destinations are Iraq, Afghanistan, Russia, Turkey and Georgia, which account for about 80 percent of exports, Mehr Emad Ahmadvand, an official of the Vice President for Science and Technology, said.

In the current Iranian calendar year, which ends on March 20, a total of 1,808 nanotechnology products based on domestic technologies have been manufactured and marketed in 15 different industrial sectors.
