Nasrallah confirms: Hezbollah drones attacked IDF intelligence base near Tel Aviv

Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah claimed in a televised address on Sunday evening that his terrorist group had attacked an Israeli military intelligence base near Tel Aviv in the morning, confirming earlier Israeli reports that the base had been a target.

The Israeli Air Force (IAF) carried out a large-scale wave of airstrikes over southern Lebanon in the early hours of Sunday morning, declaring that Hezbollah was on the verge of a massive attack on Israel.

Nasrallah claimed that Israel’s attacks failed and not a single rocket launcher belonging to the terrorist group was hit.

Despite the preemptive strikes, Hezbollah managed to fire about 200 rockets and dozens of drones. Contrary to Nasrallah’s claims, the Israeli army stated that no significant damage was done to its bases, neither those near the border nor those in central Israel.

Military sources told Israeli media that they believed a large Israeli intelligence base in Glilot, north of Tel Aviv, was the target of several Hezbollah drones shot down during the exchange of fire.

As Nasrallah noted in his speech, the base is home to the headquarters of Signals Intelligence Unit 8200, as well as a military academy and other units. The headquarters of the foreign intelligence service Mossad is also located nearby.

“We decided from the beginning that we would attack military targets and not civilians, even though Israel has harmed civilians and we have the right to harm them as well,” Nasrallah said.

However, apart from the death of an Israeli sailor due to a malfunction, the greatest damage from Hezbollah’s attacks occurred in civilian areas.

Among other things, a house in Akko was directly hit and a chicken coop near the border was destroyed.

“The answer also had to be a military base, such as an intelligence base or an air force base, because they are responsible for the elimination of Fuad Shukr.”

Hezbollah military commander Fuad Shukr was eliminated in an Israeli air strike in the Lebanese capital Beirut three weeks ago.

Nasrallah said the decision was made to attack the Glilot military post, “an important target deep inside Israel – an Israeli intelligence base of operations located 110 kilometers from the Lebanese border and 1,500 meters from the border of Tel Aviv city.”

Most of the drones targeted Glilot, while others were fired at another IDF post near Ein Shemer, the terror chief said. He said 11 IDF bases in northern Israel were attacked with about 300 rockets, mainly intended to occupy the Iron Dome system.

According to Reuters, Israel and Hezbollah exchanged messages throughout the day to signal that the exchange of fire had ended for now.

However, Nasrallah stressed that Israel’s waiting period after Hezbollah’s attack is not over, noting: “Every party in the resistance axis has the right to determine when and how to respond. After Hezbollah’s response against Israel, Iran and the Houthis will also respond.”

The “Axis of Resistance” refers to the Iranian regime’s proxy groups throughout the region, including Hezbollah, Hamas and the Yemeni Houthi terrorists.

The Houthis praised Hezbollah for the “courageous attack that the resistance carried out this morning against the Israeli enemy” and renewed their threat to turn to Israel for the Strikes in its port in Hodeidah last month.
