A group called Muslim Women for Harris-Walz disbands after the Uncommitted National Movement is told that a Palestinian-American speaker cannot speak at the Democratic National Convention.

Representatives of “undecided” convention delegates who have declined to support Vice President Kamala Harris’s presidential candidacy because of the Biden administration’s support of Israel’s Gaza war are pushing for a speaker to speak on the convention’s main stage.

After their motion was rejected, they staged a sit-in outside the party convention in Chicago.

“In light of this new information from the Uncommitted movement, we cannot in good conscience say,” Muslim Women for Harris-Walz continued, “that Vice President Harris’ team has denied her request to bring a Palestinian-American speaker to the DNC stage,” the statement said on Instagram.

“The family of the Israeli hostage who stood on stage tonight showed more empathy toward Palestinian Americans and Palestinians than our candidate or the DNC. This sends a terrible message to Democrats. Palestinians have the right to talk about Palestine.

“We pray that the DNC and Vice President Harris’ team will make the right decision before the end of the convention. For the good of each and every one of us.”

Newsweek was contacted via social media for comment from the group. The Harris campaign and convention organizers were contacted via email outside of business hours for comment.
