Did anyone read this script before greenlighting the project?

How can this even happen?

This might be the worst movie of the year. It has a 4.6 rating on IMDb, 7% from critics on RottenTomatoes, and 47% from audiences on RottenTomatoes. I read an article that said advance ticket sales for this movie were very disappointing. But honestly, everyone associated with this movie should be thankful that very few people will see it and realize how bad it is. They’ll just read about how bad it is and then forget about it.

Who is the voice of the robot Claptrap?

This is not the first time I have seen something like this, but they hired a well-known actor, Jack Black, to do the voice of the little robot. There is nothing wrong with that, but they digitally enhanced the sound of the voice to make it even robot so it’s impossible to tell whose voice it is. I could have done the voice for Claptrap and no one would know the difference. And oh, by the way, robots don’t sound like robot right now. They sound just like everyone else. I think in the distant future they’ll still know how to make a robot sound like it was created in the 1950s.

Comedy genre

I almost forgot to mention: this movie is not funny. They certainly tried to be funny. But I don’t think I smiled once at any of the jokes in this movie, nor did I hear any of the other four people in the theater make a sound. IMDb lists the genres for this movie as: Action, Adventure, Comedy. I don’t think it should be considered a comedy just because they tried to be funny. That would be like ordering a hamburger that doesn’t have any meat in it. It’s just bread and condiments. Nobody would call that a hamburger, no matter how hard someone tried to put meat on it and failed.

Here, I corrected it for you. This is an action, adventure, not a comedy movie. Now the genres are correct.

Not everything was bad

The only thing that wasn’t terrible about this movie is the acting. Cate Blanchett did everything she could to play her role. It’s not her fault that the script is what it is. Cate makes me think about how great she would have been as a superhero. She managed to play her only role as Hela in the MCU. Now I wish she would have been cast as Captain Marvel or another recurring character. But at least she was a pretty good villain for one movie. I hope DC watches and finds a role for her in one of their movies.

And it looked like Kevin Hart was just killing time. His character is pretty much the same in every movie of this type. I’ve seen him in more challenging roles and wish he would focus on those.

This is definitely one of those movies that you should avoid seeing in the theater and then forget about watching if it’s streaming.

Grade: D-

About The Peetimes: I think the first peetime is the best. The second peetime is not bad. But I would only use the third peetime in an emergency.
