Motorcycle passenger killed, driver hospitalized after crash near Wendell

The following is a press release from the Idaho State Police.

WENDELL – Idaho State Police are investigating a fatal three-vehicle crash at 3287 S. 1500 E. southwest of Wendell.

On Sunday at 5:37 p.m., ISP troopers were called to the crash. A 36-year-old Wendell man was driving a 2001 Chevrolet truck northbound on 1500 E. The Chevrolet turned left and struck a 2006 Honda CRF450R motorcycle traveling southbound on 1500 E.

The Honda motorcycle was operated by a 19-year-old Utah man with an 18-year-old female passenger from Wendell. The Honda motorcycle rear-ended an unoccupied 2004 Dodge Stratus in the West Point parking lot at 3287 S. 1500 E.

The driver of the Honda motorcycle suffered serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital by ambulance. The passenger of the Honda motorcycle suffered life-threatening injuries and succumbed to her injuries at the scene of the accident.

The driver of the Chevrolet was wearing a seat belt. Neither the driver nor the passenger of the Honda motorcycle were wearing helmets.

The northbound and southbound lanes of 1500 E. were closed for approximately two hours.

The Idaho State Police were assisted by the Gooding County Sheriff’s Office, Wendall Rural Fire Department and Gooding County EMS.
