As a young child, there was nothing more exciting than watching a movie rated PG-13. And an R-rated movie?

The thought made your heart beat so fast that it wanted to jump out of your chest!

But as tempting as films for “adults” were, sometimes we children were a little too eager.

I remember a few films that I had to turn off because I was a bit too bold in my selection!

When this user’s partner begged her to let him watch a horror movie with their child, she agreed – on the condition that he clean the house in return.

But when her child wanted to leave after 15 minutes, he thought that meant he didn’t have to clean anymore!

Was it wrong of OP to take him at his word?

Decide for yourself!

My partner (29) wanted to watch a horror film with an age rating of PG 13 with our child (9).

I disagreed and thought it was a bad idea since the child is often afraid of PG movies.

Both continued to ask and playfully beg/plead if they could leave.

In the end, OP agreed, but under ONE condition…

Eventually, my partner offered me a bribe of a completely cleaned house, “for example on Mother’s Day,” if I agreed to let my child see the film.

I said fine, but with the caveat that if the child got scared and wanted to leave ANYTIME, that would be respected, no questions asked.

My partner and I congratulated each other and then went to the cinema.

And lo and behold, the movie was too scary for the poor boy.

After 20 minutes the child is terrified and wants to leave. So that’s what we do.

Fast forward to today: My partner tells me to help clean the house.

I said, “No, we had an agreement, I’m not doing anything.”

However, the OP’s partner argued that they were not Really If you’ve seen the movie, the deal shouldn’t count.

He was upset and said, “But we haven’t even seen the movie! This is bullshit and you know it.”

I said we should let Reddit decide.

So, AITAH, because he didn’t clean house after we made a deal that turned out badly for him?

Seems like the OP’s partner conveniently forgot the rules of the deal! The OP even explained exactly what happened when they agreed to it!

Reddit told OP that she had fulfilled her part of the bargain, now it was her husband’s turn!

This user said it was time for the OP’s partner to put on the rubber gloves and get to work!

And finally, this user even gave the OP’s husband some tips for his cleaning day!

A deal is a deal!
