The Utah Sports Hall of Fame will get a dose of Northern Utah this year.

Morgan native and Weber State University graduate Lindsey Anderson has been selected for the Utah Sports Hall of Fame’s Class of 2024, the organization announced Monday.

Anderson became the second Weber State University graduate to compete in the Olympics when she ran in the women’s steeplechase at the 2008 Beijing Games. That summer, she finished second in the U.S. Olympic Trials, qualifying as WSU’s first Summer Olympian.

Anderson will be inducted into the Weber State and Big Sky Conference Halls of Fame in addition to the Utah Sports HOF. She is now the third WSU graduate to compete in the Olympics (joining medalists Billy Schuffenhauer in 2002 and Damian Lillard in 2021).

At WSU, she set school records in the steeplechase, the outdoor 10,000-meter run, and the indoor 5,000-meter run. She was a two-time All-American and left Weber as the collegiate record holder in the steeplechase.

She coached at Weber State from 2007 to 2014, was head coach at the College of Southern Idaho for five years, and was an assistant coach at Missouri for one year. She returned to Weber State in 2023 as an assistant coach for men’s and women’s cross country and track and field.

In addition to Anderson, the following people will be inducted into the Utah Sports Hall of Fame in 2024: Kyle Beckerman (Real Salt Lake player, 21-year MLS career); Kevin P. Gates (philanthropist), Craig Poole (track and field coach at BYU) and Rod Tueller (longtime coach at Logan, Utah State).

These five will be honored at an induction ceremony on September 9.

WOODHALL, BLAIR AT THE PARALYMPICS

Hunter Woodhall and David Blair will once again represent Northern Utah at the Paralympics, this time at the 2024 Games in Paris.

Woodhall, a Syracuse High graduate who runs the 100- and 400-meter races on skates, is aiming for gold after winning silver at Rio 2016 and bronze at Tokyo 2020-21. Woodhall’s wife, Tara Davis-Woodhall, won gold in the long jump at the 2024 Olympics, and the couple’s already large online following received another boost when the two posted their celebrations after their win went viral.

Blair, a graduate of Davis High and Weber State, is a discus thrower and won a gold medal at the 2016 Paralympics in Rio.
