“More than a workplace”: Precision Tax wins the Torch Award for Ethics

COEUR d’ALENE – Precision Tax is no ordinary workplace – and the Better Business Bureau agrees.

Precision Tax, a tax relief company in Coeur d’Alene, has been recognized by the local BBB office with the 2023 Torch Award for Ethics in the Idaho Large Business category.

Meghan Compton, BBB Foundation Director, remembers the lasting impression Precision Tax’s motion made on the judges.

“One of our BBB Great West + Pacific judges said, ‘This company’s commitment to helping their customers, often in their dealings with the IRS, while also ensuring their employees are fully trained and happy with their jobs, makes them a great example of how to run a large company. Their community involvement is also excellent,'” Compton said.

The Torch Awards for Ethics are an opportunity for the BBB to recognize “outstanding role models in our community who put integrity first in all their practices,” Compton said. Companies are judged on four main criteria: leadership, company culture, customer relations and community support. Precision Tax also won the Torch Award for Ethics in 1999.

“I am beyond thrilled with our team,” said Michele Mulkey, COO of Precision Tax. “They deliver exceptional service with a high level of integrity and compassionate accountability. We encourage our team members to act as trusted advisors to our clients. Team members say that the fact that we make a profound difference in our clients’ lives is one of the reasons Precision Tax is a great place to work.”

Mulkey believes Precision Tax’s “deep respect for work-life balance” is a key reason the company has achieved such high levels of success.

“We recognize and support the whole person,” Mulkey explained. Volunteering and fundraising in the community is a cornerstone of the company’s culture; the Precision Tax team has worked with groups such as CASA, Heritage Health, the CDA School Supply Drive and many others.

“Precision Tax has proven that a company can be more than just a place to work – it can be a force for good and a catalyst for positive change,” says the company’s application for the 2023 Torch Award. “We demonstrate how organizations can use their resources and influence to make a positive contribution to the social fabric of their environment.”

Members of the Precision Tax team proudly display the work they have done with Habitat for Humanity of North Idaho.
