Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah made Champions League history on Wednesday night when he scored in the club’s 2-0 win over Bologna at Anfield.

Salah has positioned himself as a Liverpool legend for his achievements and influence over the last seven years, made all the more impressive by a memorable spell at Chelsea early in his career.

The Egyptian icon scored 44 goals in Liverpool colors across all competitions in the 2017/18 season and has never scored fewer than 20 goals in a single season. It doesn’t look like this remarkable run will end in 2024/25, with the young season already at six.

In total, Salah has scored 217 Liverpool goals, placing him fifth on the club’s all-time goals list and within reach of Billy Liddell (228) (fourth) and Gordon Hodgson (241) (third).

But it was his 45th Champions League goal that made headlines against Bologna.

Salah doubled Liverpool’s lead against their Serie A opponents, securing victory and maximum points on the first two matchdays of the new-look competition.
