Missing man from Goldonna found dead north of Campti

NATCHITOCHES PARISH, Louisiana (KSLA) – The body of a missing man was found near Campti in Natchitoches Parish.

The sheriff’s office said officers first responded to the 1200 block of Highway 156 near Goldonna around 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 7, when the man’s wife called to file a missing person report. The woman told officers that her husband, Larry Page, 44, of Goldonna, had been missing for several days.

Meanwhile, other officers received a call just before 7 p.m. on Saturday, August 3, about a suspicious car in the 400 block of Dufrene Road north of Campti. A white Ford was found abandoned on a private wildlife road with no one nearby.

Officers tried to reach the registered owner of the car, and that led them back to the home where Page’s wife reported him missing. The sheriff’s office says the woman went to Dufrene Road to get the car and declined to file a missing person report at the time. She told officers she believed her husband was working in New Mexico and she had gotten a text message from him the week before. She says he was sometimes gone for days and came back later.

When Page’s wife returned home, she searched the car and found her husband’s wallet and phone. She contacted some of his coworkers who said he had quit the job. At this point, she became concerned and reported him missing.

Officers went back to Dufrene Road to look for evidence. They also spoke with the owner of the property. As officers began searching the area, they noticed a foul odor.

At that point, a search led officers to find a body and other items in a partially cleared wooded area about 50 yards from the road. The coroner identified the body as that of Page.

There is currently no suspicion of foul play, but the investigation is ongoing. Page’s body has been transported to Shreveport for an autopsy.

Anyone with information regarding the incident should contact Major J. Byles, Detective E. Mogridge or Detective M. Giannone at 318-357-7830.
