A 71-year-old Fort Kent man was rescued in the North Maine Woods on Friday after his wife reported him missing on Thursday.
Man found after missing person report
The Maine Warden Service said McClaren “Mickey” McBreairty told his wife around noon he was going fishing on Thursday. She called the wardens around 10:30 p.m. after he didn’t come home.
No signs after the first search
Wardens confirmed that McBreairty had entered North Maine Woods through a gate, but found no sign of him at his usual fishing spot. The search continued until 3 a.m. Friday morning.
Aircraft participated in the search
The Warden’s search resumed at 6 a.m. Friday with an Allagash Ranger and a Maine Warden Service aircraft.
Truck stuck on flooded road
Maine Warden Pilot Josh Tibbetts found McBreairty’s truck around 10:15 a.m. The truck was stuck on a flooded road near a beaver spillway off Michaud Farm Road in Allagash.
Man found in his truck
Warden Kayle Hamilton drove to the scene and found McBreairty in his car, “a little tired but in good spirits.” He was driven out of the woods and returned home.
