Minimum security inmate at Johnson County work release facility given escape status – Newstalk KZRG

GARDNER, Kansas.— Ricardo Marin-Valadez, a resident of the Kansas Department of Corrections (KDOC), was declared an absconder at approximately 6:00 p.m. on Friday, August 9, after he failed to report to work or return to the facility yesterday morning.

Marin-Valadez, a 24-year-old Hispanic man, was reported missing when the resident could not be located at the Johnson County Department of Corrections (JCDOC) Adult Residential Center (ARC). This stay did not impact the security or operations of the facility.

Marin-Valadez is 6’1″ tall, weighs 200 pounds, and has a large build. He has brown hair and eyes and was last seen wearing a black T-shirt and camouflage shorts.

Marin-Valadez was convicted of drug offenses in Johnson County. He is serving a 15-month sentence at the ARC, which he has vacated. Under an agreement between the KDOC and the JCDOC, residents with release plans appropriate for Johnson County are housed at the ARC.

Anyone with information regarding Marin-Valadez can call the KDOC’s Enforcement, Apprehension and Investigation (EAI) Division at 816-266-2102, the JCDOC at 913-715-6539, the Kansas Bureau of Investigation at (800) 572-7463, or local law enforcement at 911. Kansas residents can also contact the EAI via email at [email protected].

The exit is being investigated and new information will be published as it becomes available.
