And of course, it’s playing quarterback, it’s being a coach, it’s being part of a great university, a great program with high expectations. It’s our job to play at a high level. And sometimes you hear things you don’t want to hear. You may have to go through difficult and challenging situations, and that’s all part of it.

“But I think DJ is mature, he’s obviously been through a lot, you know, I think he was very encouraging there on the sideline with his teammates and very encouraging there in the players’ meeting when we played, just trying to push to make the next play. And you have to be able to live with that. You know, when you play this game, the whole world can be against you, but if you’re able to go out there and execute and control the next play, you’re going to get through it.”

Uiagalelei ended up with 272 yards, one touchdown and one interception, and was able to successfully complete 50% of his 42 pass attempts. Of course, there were also a few drops, but the fifth-year quarterback should have made a few throws automatically.

Despite his loud support from the stands, Glenn did not make it onto the field.

Mike Norvell urged to keep DJ Uiagalelei in the game

On that terrible Monday night for Florida State, Norvell opted against making any midgame changes. Even though the crowd at Doak Campbell Stadium chanted Glenn’s name, Norvell stuck with Uiagalelei at quarterback throughout Boston College’s loss.

When asked about his decision not to bench Uiagalelei, Norvell instead took the opportunity to use a little coaching speak. He believes Florida State’s coaching staff needs to focus on putting players in the right position to succeed. Norvell’s main goal is to find a way to make sure the Seminoles improve.

“We struggled on offense,” Norvell said during his postgame press conference. “There were a lot of reasons for that. Everything we do, we have to put in the effort and get better. That’s what we’re going to focus on. We’re going to focus on putting in the effort to get better. We’re going to put our guys in a position to be successful and that’s what we’re going to focus on.”
