Migrant gang occupying Colorado apartment complex is ‘not an isolated incident,’ says former resident

Shocking doorbell footage shows a group of heavily armed Venezuelan migrants attempting to break into a Colorado apartment. The suspected gang members have now overrun the apartment complex in Aurora, Colorado, but a former resident says the takeover is “not an isolated incident.”

“Unfortunately, this is by no means an isolated incident. I have footage from several months, almost a year and a half, from six different cameras,” former resident of the Aurora apartment complex Cindy Romero said on Friday in “America Reports.”

According to Romero, residents of the apartment complex were on “high alert” after observing several people entering an adjacent building with weapons one morning.

“I saw several people bringing assault rifles to the next floor of the building next to mine. And I reported it to the police. So we were on edge and on high alert all day because they told us there was really nothing they could do unless something happened. And we were waiting all day for it to happen and we knew it was coming,” she said.

Romero added that despite the early morning call to police, police were unable to respond “unless something happened.”

“The reason was that there was an investigation going on that they didn’t want to get involved in. I assume there was some kind of surveillance. But they never showed up. And then when the shooting broke out at around 11:20 that night, we again called 911 in desperation and asked for help. We didn’t get a response for an hour and a half,” she said.

Several men armed with handguns, one of them with a rifle with a telescopic sight, were filmed storming through the door of the apartment complex for unknown reasons.

The group appears to be Tren de Aragua, or TdA, a transnational gang based in Venezuela. The gang, which reportedly has 5,000 members, has the motto “real until death” or “real hasta la muerte.”

TdA is now connected to over 100 crimes across the country, the New York Post reported.

“It was really bad that day,” Romero said, revealing that she and her husband were home when the gang stormed into the apartment across the hall.

The occupation of the building ended with gunshots and bullets flying into vehicles.

“My car has a bullet hole in it. I went in one side and came out the other. I hit about five things. My husband also has bullet holes in his car,” she added.

Since then, Aurora Mayor Mike Coffman confirmed that at least two apartment buildings within the city limits had been occupied by Venezuelan gangs. Some residents also confirmed to Fox News Digital on Wednesday that members of Tren de Aragua had been collecting rent from residents in at least one of the overrun apartment complexes.

Colorado City Council members fire back after governor’s office dismissed armed gang takeover as ‘a matter of imagination’

Romero has now moved with the help of Aurora City Council member Danielle Jurinsky.

“The first time I spoke to her, she asked, ‘Do you still live there?’ And I said, ‘Yes.’ And she said, ‘I’ll get you out of there,'” Romero said.

Jurinsky was criticized for her stance on the break-in at the apartment complex, particularly by Colorado Governor Jared Polis.

“Based on police intelligence, this alleged robbery is largely a figment of Danielle Jurinsky’s imagination,” a spokesman for Polis’ office told the New York Post on Thursday.

“You can’t fake video and Polis wouldn’t last five minutes on that property.” – Cindy Romero

Romero countered the Democratic governor by saying, “You can’t fake video and Polis wouldn’t last five minutes on that property.”

“They don’t want to admit they’re part of the problem,” Romero claimed. “We rely on the government to make the rules for us, the guidelines we live by. I call 911. No help comes. No help. No masses of police come to make sure we’re defended. No one came to help me.”

“I didn’t have a bulletproof vest. I didn’t have five police officers by my side if there was a problem. We were on our own and left to die.”

After the horrific incident, Romero said she was “so grateful every day that I got out.”
