Michigan Tech University students leave their impression on move-in day

HOUGHTON, Michigan (WLUC) – School has officially started again in Houghton.

This weekend, over 1,300 students headed to the campus of Michigan Tech University to prepare for the upcoming school year.

Resident care staff report that parents see both smiling and crying faces on both sides of the screen.

Nicole Foguth, Marketing Communications Manager for Residential Living, says this is one of her favorite times of the year.

“There’s just so much energy on campus. We’re just coming off summer break where everyone was away, so it’s a really exciting time. Staff, faculty and students are coming together to welcome our new Huskies and make them feel at home,” Foguth said.

First-year student Claire Weekley says she met a lot of great people on her first day and is ready to start this new chapter of her life.

“Honestly, I’m just looking forward to meeting a lot more people. I’ve already met some great people on campus, like my RA, people who helped me move in as well,” Weekley said. “The move-in team was great, so I’m just looking forward to meeting new people and fitting into the community,”

Staff say orientation week begins Monday and the first day of classes is August 26.
