Senate candidate Elissa Slotkin, D-Mich., reportedly told donors that Michigan, one of the key swing states that will likely determine the 2024 presidential election, is not slated for Vice President Kamala Harris.

“I don’t feel particularly comfortable right now about where we are on Kamala Harris in a place like Michigan,” Slotkin said during a virtual fundraiser, according to Axios.

Recent polls show former President Trump losing Harris’ popularity in the battleground states of Michigan and Wisconsin, but some Harris supporters, like Slotkin, warn that Harris may actually be in serious danger there. The winner, Michigan, has won the last four presidential elections.

“We have her underwater in our poll,” Slotkin said of Harris’ popularity in Michigan.

While Slotkin expressed a lack of confidence in Harris’ popularity in Michigan, other polls have shown that the vice president actually has a slim 48% to 45% lead over former President Trump in the contested election, according to a USA Today/Suffolk University poll state has.

Six third-party candidates will also appear on the Michigan ballot, including independent Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who suspended his campaign last month and endorsed Trump. Although each polled less than 1 percent, each could become a spoilsport if the gap between the two major party candidates narrows, said David Paleologos, director of the Suffolk University Political Research Center.

However, some poll experts, like Suffolk University Political Research Center director David Paleologos, say Harris needs to maintain a strong enough lead in Michigan or risk political disaster.

“If Kamala Harris’ lead shrinks to a one-point lead, the entire state depends on being on the sidelines in the Michigan vote,” he said USA today. “The behavior of third-party voters — people who are mocked for wasting their votes — could make the difference in switching to either Harris or Trump.”

The Harris campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital.
